Did you know more human-caused wildfires in the U.S. West start on July 4th than on any other day of the year? Around 16,000 fireworks displays light up the night sky on July 4th, according to an industry estimate. These fireworks can disturb or harm both pets and wildlife, including birds. If you want to see your annual fireworks and protect birds, too, our best advice is to attend a municipal or commercial display, rather than setting off your own pyrotechnic devices. You can also join a July 5th cleanup alongside hundreds of other volunteers to help dispose of the potentially toxic trash that lingers long after the celebration is over.
