Glue Traps Are a Horrifying Hazard for Birds

Glue traps are widely used to catch rodents or insects like the recently infamous spotted lanternfly. When the invasive insects became widespread, experts noticed that lanternfly traps were ensnaring other wildlife like birds and small mammals—a problem they call "bycatch." The strips of sticky tape can injure or kill birds and other wildlife, but fortunately, safer alternatives are available.
