Help unlock $5,000 for vulnerable shorebirds
NAME: KAREN SHARP SUSTAINER STATUS: Unconfirmed GIVING CHALLENGE DEADLINE: 6/17 | | 39 donors needed now to unlock $5,000 | | | | Dear KAREN, When Red Knots make their more than 9,000-mile migration to their breeding grounds, they are famished as they reach their crucial stopover point at the Delaware River watershed. These shorebirds depend on the bounty of horseshoe crab eggs to refuel and continue on their journey. But their critical food source is overharvested—and without a chance to replenish, fewer and fewer Red Knots survive their migratory journey. The outlook for certain shorebirds like the Red Knot feels dire, but that's why your dependable monthly gift is urgently needed to turn the tide. We're looking for 39 supporters to start a monthly gift right away—and thanks to a generous group of donors, when you donate you'll help unlock an additional $5,000 to protect the birds we love. The Red Knot has been in trouble for years. Its population is shrinking as its food supply of horseshoe crab eggs diminishes and as climate change alters its coastal habitat. But birds that are at risk are also birds we can help. And your committed support can give them a better future. Audubon takes decisive conservation action for shorebirds, including implementing coastal stewardship through advocacy, education, and on-the-ground disturbance management. We're also defending and supporting policies that enhance coastal resilience and working to protect coastal communities and habitats most at risk from sea-level rise and storms. Will you join us in protecting birds at a time when they need us most? Make a gift right away to sustain our best conservation work for the birds that need it most: 39 monthly donors are needed NOW to unlock $5,000. It's not too late: but the time to act is NOW. We've already lost 3 billion birds in the last 50 years, and a full two-thirds of North American bird species are now threatened by climate change. We can't afford to give birds less than our very best— not when there's so much we can do together to bring them back. Please make your most generous gift for the Red Knot and all vulnerable birds today. Sincerely, National Audubon Society | | | | |
