These shorebirds depend on the bounty of horseshoe crab eggs to refuel and continue on their journey. But their critical food source is overharvested—and without a chance to replenish, fewer and fewer Red Knots survive their migratory journey. The outlook for certain shorebirds like the Red Knot feels dire, but that's why your dependable monthly gift is urgently needed to turn the tide. The Red Knot has been in trouble for years. Its population is shrinking as its food supply of horseshoe crab eggs diminishes and as climate change alters its coastal habitat.
