Saltmarsh Sparrow. 2X Match Active [Double Your Impact]
Spotting the Saltmarsh Sparrow has long been a challenge: They depend on tidal marshes, nesting just beyond the reach of the tides and migrating at night along the shoreline. But now, with rising sea levels along the Atlantic coast, these birds are imperiled by catastrophic nest flooding. And sadly, they’re far from alone: According to the latest State of the Birds report, this spiky-tailed sparrow is one of 42 “Red Alert Tipping Point” species who have perilously low populations and have experienced steep declining trends.

We're not going to sit by and let the birds we love disappear—and we know you won't either. Please be one of the friends we’re counting on to start an annual donation ahead of World Migratory Bird Day to help protect endangered birds like the Saltmarsh Sparrow. Thanks to a group of generous donors, your first gift could be matched 2X up to $30,000.
World Migratory Bird Day Match Active [Donate]
With more than 120 years of expertise under our wing and dedicated friends like you by our side, we can create a safer future for birds and people. And truth be told, we already are. For example, we’re partnering with state and federal agencies to restore tidal flow, elevate marsh beds, and protect critical high-marsh nesting areas for the Saltmarsh Sparrow. Our comprehensive approach—combining cutting-edge science, fierce policy advocacy, empowering education, and expert on-the-ground conservation—creates a powerful force against future extinctions.

But there is more work to be done, so we’re asking for your steadfast support ahead of World Migratory Bird Day. Please start your annual contribution right away—and when you do, your first gift could be matched, up to $30,000.

Sincerely,

National Audubon Society
