Shorebirds like the Piping Plover are facing threats on all sides. As a group, their population has declined significantly in recent decades. Not only do they have to contend with human development and disruptions from beachgoers, they’re also increasingly losing their habitat to sea level rise, severe storms, spring heat waves, and drained wetlands. Scientists predict that the Piping Plover could lose 87% of its current breeding range to climate change—unless we help.
