Dear KAREN,

A day at the beach is a delightful chance to watch shorebirds like the Piping Plover, darting about and pecking at the sand or mud for food, or to hear their distinctive calls. But our chances to admire these wonderful birds may not last forever as their populations have dropped dramatically in the last 40 years. Unless things change, and caring people like you help, their plight may only get worse.

Birds need your help to weather a warming world. Will you help secure them a better future? Donate today, and a group of generous donors will match your annual gift 2X up to $500,000—meaning your support will go twice as far to protect birds at risk.
We can bring birds back
Shorebirds like the Piping Plover have long faced disturbances from beach-goers and their dogs and vehicles, development, and the draining of wetlands. Now, they’re facing a double whammy in the form of climate change, which is threatening their habitats with rising sea levels and increasingly severe storms.

The Piping Plover is already listed as endangered in 13 states and threatened elsewhere. To survive for the long term, something needs to change.

You can make that change happen, KAREN.
Help meet the donor goal
It’s up to all of us who love birds to come together and ensure their survival. We are working to bring birds back, using our long expertise to restore their habitats, protect ecosystems, and advocate for policies to fight climate change that benefit birds and people alike. But our work depends on your support. We can’t do it without you!

We need 134 more donors to join us today to stay on track toward our goal. Will you be one of them? Protect the birds you love by making your annual gift today, while it will be matched 2X. And please set your gift to renew annually, which will provide support that birds can depend on against the challenges to come.

Thank you for your support,
