Help unlock $25,000 in additional support to protect birds.
NAME: KAREN SHARP SUSTAINER STATUS: Unconfirmed GIVING CHALLENGE DEADLINE: 4/22 | | 300 donors needed to unlock $25,000 | | | | Dear KAREN, "Delay means death." That's how UN Secretary General António Guterres summarized its recent report on climate change. Yet as urgent as this moment is, birds are telling us it's not too late to create a safer, more hopeful future. And together, we're already doing it. Audubon acts on behalf of birds—and where there's action, there's hope. You become a part of it when you join in our Earth Day challenge: Will you be one of 300 dependable new monthly donors today while your gift will help unlock an additional $25,000 to protect the birds you love? Audubon's efforts focus on preserving some of the most critical places that birds need to survive. For instance, we helped stop oil and gas leases in the Arctic Refuge—protecting a place that's vital to our planet's climate resilience and safeguarding the nearly 200 species of migratory birds that call this important habitat home. This is just one example of what's possible when we have you by our side. And as we look towards Earth Day later this month, there's no better moment to help. The climate crisis poses an existential threat to a staggering two-thirds of North American bird species—and for some backyard birds like the Baltimore Oriole, which has already suffered a 44% decline since 1970, it could prove too much for their survival. The science is clear: Birds will continue suffering from the dire effects of planetary warming—and these effects will only worsen—unless we change course. But the future is not yet written, and we can ease the climate catastrophe—if we slash emissions and protect the habitats birds need to survive. Audubon has made protecting the future for birds our urgent priority for decades, and our successes are thanks to generous people like you. Through the strength of our members and more than a century of expertise, we never stop pushing for comprehensive solutions to increase the resilience of birds and important habitats, while also fighting for cleaner energy to combat climate change. Please, do your best for birds right away. Start a monthly gift and provide steadfast support while helping to unlock $25,000 more in honor of Earth Day. Sincerely, The National Audubon Society | | | | |
