A perfect setting for the spread of disease, it was there that a massive outbreak of avian botulism killed 40,000 birds—the worst outbreak in 40 years. Audubon's work for birds has never been more vital. By speaking up to secure the abundant clean water they need, we're creating a safer future for birds. We can prevent losses like these.
