We cherish birds like these as our daily companions, but science tells us that many of them are facing a sustained decline and others are facing a climate crisis that could silence them forever. Audubon is committed to protecting birds in our communities, but we're relying on the steady support from bird lovers like you to make it all possible. Please start your monthly donation today and help unlock an additional $10,000 gift. We can't miss this chance to act. The birds in our communities are up against some remarkable challenges. In recent years, science has shown a total population decline of 26%, with species like the Rose-breasted Grosbeak and the Yellow Warbler suffering losses in the millions. And it's clear that the threats facing our backyard friends now are part of a larger crisis in motion with three billion birds lost since 1970. Compounding the crisis is climate change, which poses an existential threat to two-thirds of North American bird species including backyard birds like the American Goldfinch and the American Robin. But if we can act quickly to give our backyard birds the healthy habitats they need, safe passage as they migrate, stronger policies and protections, and meaningful climate action, we can create a safer future where more of them can thrive.
