Bald Eagle. |

KAREN,
Every Fourth of July, we celebrate what the Bald Eagle represents—freedom, democracy, and the enduring spirit of this country. This year, we're also celebrating these iconic raptors as one of America's greatest conservation success stories.
Once driven to the brink of extinction by DDT and habitat loss, the Bald Eagle’s recovery is a testament to effective science-based conservation and sustained advocacy. But that recovery is not guaranteed without continued vigilance. Warming landscapes, intensifying storms, and degraded habitats pose new risks—reminding us that the work to protect birds and the places they need is never finished.
This Independence Day, start an annual gift to fuel our year-round efforts to secure the Bald Eagle’s safest possible future. When you adopt a Bald Eagle now, you’ll receive a plush bird as our token of thanks, and your gift will automatically renew each year to provide the steadfast protection birds need.
The latest State of the Birds report warns that one-third of U.S. birds need conservation action. Birds are telling us they are in trouble. But thanks to this community’s support, we’re already answering that call with action.
With more than a century of expertise under our wing and caring bird lovers like you behind our efforts, we’re giving species like the Bald Eagle a better chance at survival: restoring and improving the resilience of important landscapes; successfully advocating for climate legislation at the state and federal levels; transforming communities into places where birds flourish; and securing space, clean air, and clean water that birds and people need to live and thrive.
Please adopt a Bald Eagle today and keep these birds flying strong, ensuring that the conservation solutions we choose today can secure a safer future for birds tomorrow.
Sincerely,
National Audubon Society |
