Chimney Swift. |
|
The Chimney Swift was once abundant in our city skies. But today, they are facing steep population declines throughout most of their range, particularly around urban areas in the Upper Midwest, Gulf Coast, and southeastern Piedmont regions, as they lose the brick chimneys they rely on for roosting and nesting. Last year's State of the Birds report also named this beloved species—alongside 36 other birds—an Orange Alert “Tipping Point” species, having experienced long-term population losses and accelerated recent declines within the past decade.
These birds can’t ask for your help. So, we’re asking for them: Will you start an annual donation ahead of World Migratory Bird Day to give birds the protection they need, not just today but tomorrow, too? Thanks to a group of generous donors, your first gift could be matched 2X, up to $20,000—but only until midnight tomorrow! |

| With more than 120 years of expertise under our wing and dedicated friends like you by our side, we can create a safer future for birds and people. And truth be told, we already are. For example, Audubon’s Migratory Bird Initiative (MBI) is transforming our ability to work effectively across the hemisphere by combining the known movements of tracked birds to identify precisely where and when birds need the most help along their routes. Our comprehensive approach—combining science, advocacy, habitat restoration, and education—creates a powerful force against future extinctions. |
