January 5 is National Bird Day, a time to celebrate avian life and to bring attention to our duty to protect birds from the effects of a changing climate. Today also marks the end of the 123rd Audubon Christmas Bird Count, a unique community science effort that serves as one of the longest-running wildlife censuses in the world and helps shape research and conversation work.
