A Street Art Spotlight on Climate-threatened Birds
The Audubon Mural Project is a public-art initiative whose mission is to raise awareness around birds and climate change, and by extension the human communities who also rely on a clean and healthy environment. Sponsored by the National Audubon Society and Gitler &______ Gallery, the project is informed by Audubon's groundbreaking report Survival By Degrees, which found that climate change will threaten 389 bird species with extinction.

The project commissions artists to paint murals of these species, and it has been widely covered in the media, including The New York Times. In addition to the nearly 100 murals that have been painted in the Harlem and Washington Heights neighborhoods of New York City, climate-threatened bird murals have spread to Chicago, Vashon Island in Washington's Puget Sound, and overseas to France, with more in the works in California and New Orleans.
