Dear KAREN,

There is hope when we act: For more than a century, Audubon's rigorous science has identified birds that are threatened, habitats that are most in need of protection, and birds that will most benefit from our efforts. These findings drive our comprehensive program of bird conservation to create a world where birds thrive.

And thanks to the generous support of people like you, we have given birds a better chance to thrive across every habitat where Audubon works. Our work has brought many threatened species back from the edge of extinction and built a legacy that is more than a century strong.

However, right now birds face an incredible biodiversity crisis: Three billion birds have vanished in the last 50 years, and a devastating two thirds of bird species in North America are at increasing risk of extinction from climate change.

If you look out your window, you might see birds like the American Robin, widely cherished as a symbol of spring and nature's amazing renewal. But, even familiar birds like those that visit our backyards and communities will face the challenge of this code-red climate crisis and many have already been impacted.

There has been a 26% decline among the birds in our communities since 1970—and if we do not act now, more could be silenced by the urgent threats posed by climate change.

We can keep our communities vibrant with birds like the American Robin, as long as we can count on friends like you. Join us in protecting birds and their habitats: Start your dependable monthly gift right away and you'll help unlock an additional $5,000 for birds and the places they need through our limited time giving challenge.

Sincerely,

The National Audubon Society
