In fact, they are so important that the theme of 2024 World Migratory Bird Day is "Protect Insects, Protect Birds."
While insects may bug humans, they play a critical role in our ecosystem. They clean up waste, pollinate plants, and feed countless forms of wildlife. Insect hatches are so crucial to bird migration that many species in North America plan their entire migration according to the peak abundance of insects.
