YES! This definitely is a younger me! I created this video for local Massage Therapists who were struggling with shoulder pain. However, I also realized that this BEACH POSITION is amazing for accessing back breathing!
I use the BEACH POSITION a lot for releasing tension in my back especially if I have been sitting or standing a long time.
When you sink into this position it requires more lung expansion in your back and much less in your front. This helps the diaphragm sink lower in the back.
If you struggle with a 360/ Full body breath this might be the ticket!
It can be a challenging position to get into at first. Only spend no more than 30 seconds at first and keep your head from falling back. If you have a sensitive neck, do this close to a wall so you can lean your head against it (Thank you NancyLaurel for that tip!)
The changes are rapid and satisfying! Give it a try and let me know how you felt. Allow a few minutes to rest on your back and enjoy the sensation of a longer spine and free shoulder blades!
