Dear KAREN,

On Audubon Virtual Advocacy Day, we will raise our collective voices like birds during the dawn chorus.

This year, Audubon is sponsoring two important bills in the California State Legislature that protect imperiled grassland birds like the Western Meadowlark and ensure equitable access to nature for all Californians. Learn more in the stories below.

Conservation Ranching to Save Imperiled Grassland Birds
Our grassland birds have declined 50% in the last century. The Audubon-sponsored California Conservation Ranching Incentive Program (SB977) will protect rangeland habitat to safeguard species like the American Kestrel, Western Meadowlark, Grasshopper Sparrow, Acorn Woodpecker, and California Quail.

Equitable Outdoor Access for All
We all have the right to nature and the joy of birding. That's why Audubon sponsored the Equitable Outdoor Access Bill (AB30) to expand access to nature for all Californians, especially low-income and people of color who are two-thirds more likely to live in nature-deprived areas than white people in California.
